We always hear about the astronauts and their bravery, but we never really see how brave their families are also being.Ĭal and Leon’s love story is truly sweet, if also a little bit too “love at first sight” for me and not well-developed. I really enjoyed the whole NASA-mission-to-Mars aspect of the story and how it showed what the families of astronauts go through behind the scenes. The Gravity of Us is a sweet love story with a neat journalistic and science-y plot. Can Cal keep his public life and his private life separate? When Cal discovers that the space program has ulterior motives, he has to find a way to show people the truth while also protecting the people he cares about most. Cal quickly falls head over heels for Leon, but Leon is hesitant due to Cal’s popularity. Then Cal meets Leon, whose mother is also an astronaut and a potential pilot for the mission. It looks like his journalistic dreams are going to be ruined…or are they? The internship is blown and Cal is being told he can’t even broadcast his own videos. The mission is highly-publicized and has its own reality TV show, and within days, Cal and his parents have moved to Clear Lake, Texas. But then his father gets chosen as a potential pilot for a NASA mission to Mars. He’s even snagged an internship at Buzzfeed.
